Inspiration

I thought I would share this inspiration story with you guys. The following link will take you to an ESPN story about an Emporia High School football player who is blind. It's a great story & you may need some tissues.

'E:60' -- Charlie Wilks Q&A about being blind and playing football - ESPN

Peter was supposed to have Charlie in his class this semester but didn't. Maybe he's in next sememster's group.

I love this quote from Charlie,

"don't use the disability as a crutch, you should use the disability as a leg and start running".
I am always so amazed when I read stories like this because the people involved always make it seem so effortless, when you know it is not. I honestly don't know if I could do a smidgen of what I see so many people out there accomplish. I watched the gal who was attacked by the chimp on Oprah last week and thought seriously if that was me I would be so angry and just be wishing that I had not been saved, but she is just moving forward with her life as best she can as it is now. She has this incredible gently peaceful spirit within her. You would think seeing such stories would inspire those like me to get off their lazy butts and take charge and not focus on the "if only..." or "what ifs..." or all the other flimsy non-excuses we so freely dwell and rely on. I think sometimes that pessimism is my crutch. Beth thanks for sharing.

Oh and Beth share some of the Jacob bowling stories with us. I hear he has a new hobby.

I saw the lady mauled by the ape on Oprah, and her attitude amazed me too. I could not handle her situation with the same grace.

Fiddler, you are a very determined, intelligent lady. I think you will always be up to the challenges life throws your way. All of us become pessimistic at times. But those moments pass, we move on, and hope for a better tomorrow.
