Reflection and Refinancing

I have enjoyed reading and responding to everyone's recent postings, and I appreciate the opportunities you've all provided for me (through your thoughtful writing) to reflect on my choices, my perspective, and the way I treat those around me. Thank you.

Trent and I are in the process of refinancing our home. For the past two weeks, when I haven't been at work (completing the mountain of end-of-semester tasks), I have been researching and applying for refinance loans with various lenders and brokers. It's exciting, but it's also a little scary. We're ready to get out from under some not-so-great loans we got three years ago (when homes were appreciating and we were naive, no-down-payment-first-time-home-buyers). We got our home appraised this morning, and we should know the results next Tuesday. Our appraisal will let us know whether or not we can even hope to get financing. Keep your fingers crossed.

I am getting ready to do some baking today for my church's spring festival. We have a bake sale every year. After volunteering at the festival tomorrow, Trent and I will (finally!) be able to go for a bike ride together on the Silver Comet Trail. I look forward to (as Jack Nicholson's character said in Terms of Endearment):

Wind in my hair!
Lead in my pencil!
Feet controlling the universe!

The bike ride sounds exhilerating. Refinancing your house sounds like a pain. It is a serious undertaking and I admire you for doing it. I would not know where to start. I hope the new appraisal benefits you. The price of everything is going up and we all need to find a way to stretch our dollars. Good luck to you. Keep us posted. What did you make for the bake sale? May you always have the wind in your hair! May the universe respond in kind to your exuberance.

Katie you always seem to have a positive outlook on life. You always remember that there will be days where the wind is so still that any movement seems an intrusion, so you stand and enjoy the stillness, but then there will be days when the wind blows through your hair and anything seems possible, you want to take your hand off the handle bars and lift them into the air and exhale, of course some days the wind is relentless and those days you button up, hunker down and try to enjoy the whistle and the howl and hope it doesn't last long. I hope the re-financing goes smoothly and turns out to be be just what you need at this time. Keep us posted. Enjoy baking in the kitchen, feeling your body in motion on your bike ride with Trent---your path might have some bumps, but it looks like the view is pretty good from here.

Fiddler! You are a poet! I love your response to Katie's post. You have a way with words that is soothing. You are a born healer.

I agree. Katie has spirit. She was born to teach and write.

You both were.

And so were you, Honor! Thank you both for your thoughtful and encouraging replies. I love my Fiddler Kin!
