There is some powerful writing happening on this blog. I particularly enjoyed reading and responding to a couple of recent posts by Honor and Margaret. And the comments on those posts--wow! I just had to pause and soak in each word. Thanks, Fiddler Kin, for your moving, powerful writing.
Trent and I took a couple of fun bike rides this past weekend. We got Trent a seat pad after the 20 mile ride on Saturday (which, even though it was out and back, Trent thought was 80% up hill). On Sunday, we got caught in a rain shower 10 miles out, so we high-tailed it back to the truck, and Trent showed me just how fast he can ride, after an 8 year hiatus from bicycling. Pretty speedy. I needed those bike rides, too. I consumed 2/3 of an applesauce cake with cream cheese icing this weekend (I gave part of it to our neighbors, and I donated another cake to our church bake sale).
After Trent's latest MRI, it looks like he will need shoulder surgery after all. I'll keep you posted on that.
We're moving forward with the refinancing process--woohoo! I've learned a lot, and I'm glad that my research and hard work these past couple of weeks will pay off. Now, we're moving on to roofing estimates. I'm educating myself on construction, shingles, insurance, etc. I'm feeling more empowered with each new task. :)
Have a beautiful week, Fiddler Kin! I'm looking forward to seeing you over Memorial Day weekend when I'm in Kansas!!
Getting physical

Training sessions have been going really well these past few weeks. I

Tom thought he might have to work that week-end but, now it looks like he might be off. So I hope to make it to KC for your week here. Speaking of a rain shower I remember when we were little and it would just rain we would run around ouside in our underwear. For some reason that sound like a fun thing to so right now. It is amazing what all you need to now to run a house hold. Tell Trent I hope he gets to feeling better. I know a little pain can go a long way.
I hope Trent's surgery goes smoothly and he feels more like his old self. You two are quiet the bike riders. Adrenaline can be amazing. John fell off his bike a couple of years ago and landed on his shoulder and banged it up pretty good, anyway he was angry and embarrased so he jumped back on his bike and off he went like a mad-man. I couldn't catch him until he finally stopped about a mile from where the car was parked. Maybe the pain was kicking in by then. Only you can eat that much rich cake and have the discipline to ride it off. I would have crashed on the sofa. That is great news about re-financing. I am sure it is a big relief for you both. We can't wait to see you in over Memorial Day weekend. Have a safe trip.
Carol I wish you lived out in the country where you could dance in the rain in your underwear, maybe go out to the farm next time it rains, maybe in the evening so that pesky cow farmer doesn't show up and indulge those happy times from childhood.
Katie,I have thought about you and Trent a lot lately. I hope Trent's surgery goes well and he heals without major problems. It's great that the house can be re-financed. What a relief. Your hard work paid off. Do you ever hurt after one of your bike rides? The cake sounds yummy. I couldn't stop with one piece of cake either. You are a woman for all seasons. You teach, explore financial options, ride a bike 20 miles, bake delicious cakes etc. WOW! It will be good to see you Memorial Day weekend.
Carol,do you remember that Grandma and Grandpa saved rain water in a barrell? We used to wash our hair with it. The water made our hair feel soft.
I love all these rain memories happening here ... running around in the rain in your undies, washing your hair in rain water. I love it!!
Margaret, have you and John been able to do some bike riding since John's spill? I hope so.
Honor, no I don't usually have any pain after bike rides. I'm usually just hungry. :)
I can't wait to see all of you next week!!
