My Favorite Christmas Carols

The 2008 Christmas season is here. I like christmas music. It helps create a festive mood. My favorite serious Christmas carol is O Little Town of Bethlehem. I like the words and the melody. This song was written by an Episcopal priest a few years after he visited Bethlehem in the mid 1800's. There is a mystical quality to this carol that inspires and comforts me.

Jingle Bell Rock is a fun song. Brenda Lee, a teen-age singer, made it popular when I was a teen. I also like Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer. I don't know why and I hope it never happens to me.

What Christmas songs do my Fiddler kin like to hear? I would really like to know.

I probably won't get home for Christmas. It will be a Blue Christmas without you, Fiddler kin.

I just read this Psalm and even though I've read it before it suddenly stood out so I'm praying this for all of fiddlerkin PS 45:7 may God anoint "thee with the oil of gladness...", or joy this Christmas season and all year long. I love to iron to the music from The Messiah.

My favorite carole is Oh Holy Night. It will be a blue blue christmas without you Honor. Sister Carol will you and yours be joining the rest of us at Sharon's house on Christmas Day? We hope you can make it. Katie and Sharon are suppose to be making baklava and I am counting on it. They make the best baklava. They could open a baklava cafe. Thank you for praying for us Carol. There can never be too many prayers out there.

My favorite is also Oh Holy Night, especially when sung by Celtic Woman. I also love Carol of the Bells, it's almost hypnotic. I will miss seeing you guys this Chritmas but I will be thinking of you. I am really exciting about waking up Chritmas morning in my own home this year.

Merry Christmas Beth. That will be nice to start a few of your own holiday traditions and memories in your home, especially now that Jacob is really coming into his own personality. Thank you for the pictures, as always he is adorable. You and Peter don't look too bad either

What a great post idea (much more festive and cheerful than my most recent post)! I have to agree that "Oh Holy Night" is a beautiful carol to sing and hear, as are "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem" and "Carol of the Bells" (though I'm not sure I could sing the last one).

I am getting a happy image of Carol ironing to the Hallelujiah Chorus right now. King of Kings!!!

I have fond memories of driving around Phoenix with Trent on Christmas Eve (our first Christmas away from Kansas) belting out "Feliz Navidad" as we looked at Christmas lights.

I also love "What Child is This?" and "Still, Still, Still."

Oh, and Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas (is You)."

Actually, I love all of it. And I love all of you!

We love you Katie. This is a beautiful season and the music is beautiful too. Thanks Fiddler kin for answering my question. Wish we could talk in person.
Feliz Navidad Family.
